The ancient neighbourhood of La Marina, was founded by the Pisans in the 13th century to host warehouses and accommodation for those working at the nearby port of Cagliari. From the fourteenth century, with the first Aragonese and later Spanish domination, La Marina grew in inhabitants assuming the connotation of a busy trade district. It is, therefore, a neighbourhood full of history and charm. Still inhabited by the locals, here you are at short walk to Cagliari’s main historic sites, museums, churches and the beautiful old cathedral and promenades by the sea. This is also the starting point of city bus tours, boat excursions and local buses easily connecting you to the Poetto beach.
